William "Bill" Khourie was born January 6th, 1950 in Memphis, Tennessee to Marian (Jabour) and William Khourie. He lost his battle with cancer, but was reunited with his Lord and Savior and his son on May 31st, 2022 at his home in Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 25 days. As a young child, Bill moved with his parents to Elk City, Oklahoma where he attended school. During his high school days Bill set numerous school records for his outstanding skills as a running back. He still holds the record for the most carry's in a single game and the most carry's in a single season for Big Elk Football. Bill graduated from Elk City High School in May of 1968 and continued his education at the University of Oklahoma where he received his bachelors degree in psychology and later received his clinical psychology masters degree from Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky. After receiving his degree, he obtained employment in Wichita Falls, Texas as a clinical psychologist. Because of Bill's love of airplanes as a young boy, he began pursuing a career in aeronautics. Throughout his years he flew commercially, privately, and owned his own plane flying for business and pleasure all throughout the United States. Bill's pursuit of flying was the driving force in many of his accomplishments including finding the first DC-3 to carry passengers and returning it to the United States, being appointed to Oklahoma's Governor's Task Force on Aerospace Education, appointed to Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission, Governor's Commendation for Outstanding Service to the State of Oklahoma, being cited by the University Center at Tulsa for his commitment to advancing lifetime learning through aeronautics and aerospace education, instrumental in the repeal of the Commercial Space Act of 1998, and being appointed as the Director of the Oklahoma Space Industry Development Authority. When Bill had any free time, he enjoyed attending the University of Oklahoma football games and being an avid OU fan, riding his 1981 Wide Glide Harley-Davidson motorcycle (which he bought new and still owned today), flying for pleasure, mentoring and teaching anyone who had an interest in flying, and spending time with his family and numerous friends. He is preceded in death by his father; son, Billy Khourie. Bill is survived by his wife, Karen, of the home; daughter, Lauren Khourie, Wewoka, OK; his mother, Marian Khourie, Elk City, OK; Karen's children, Shelby Maddox and husband, Marty, Elk City, OK, Jordan Cain and wife, Jenny, Elk City, OK, and Josh Cain and wife, Charity, Yukon, OK; the grandchildren and great grandchildren that called him "Papa Bear" , Macie and husband, Cody, Mattie and husband, Chrishawn, Tuesday, Titus, Tiger Lily, Tobias, Murphey, and Patrick; aunt, Regina Khourie; his cousins, Tammie Lawson, Doug Khourie, Bobby Khourie, Kay Suddarth, Stephen Salamy, Pamela Salamy, the Albert Family and a host of other relatives and numerous friends.
