Willa Jeanne Shelton, 92, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, in Stillwater Oklahoma. Born on February 2,1933 in Wheeler, Texas. She lived a life rooted in family, faith, hard work, and connection to her community. Willa Jeanne Brewer was the daughter of Gene (E.R.) and Ruby Brewer.

Her upbringing shaped the steady values she carried: devotion to loved ones, commitment to her work, and a sense of responsibility that guided her throughout her life. She married Billy Vernon Shelton and together they shared 53 years of marriage until his passing in 2004.They built a life centered around family and the community they cared for. In 1967 Willa Jeanne and Bill moved to Allison, Texas after her father approached them with the opportunity to help run a business. They became co-owners and operators of Allison Grain and Farm Supply alongside her parents. Along with running the business, they raised cattle on the family ranch. Their work was more than a livelihood—it was a long-standing part of the local community. They supported local schools, served as class sponsors, and were active in organizations that helped the area's young people.

Their commitment also extended to decades of involvement with First Baptist Churches in Allison and Reydon. Willa Jeanne especially enjoyed helping with Vacation Bible School during the summers—something she viewed as both a responsibility and a joy. The church community remained an important part of her life for many years. She also enjoyed helping prepare meals for families gathering for funeral services in the Reydon community. She cherished the time she shared with everyone involved in preparing and serving these families. Willa Jeanne's creativity was a steady presence in her life. She enjoyed sewing and embroidering decorations, tending her garden, and making seasonal crafts for her home. She also loved attending craft shows—browsing, gathering ideas, and finding inspiration for her next project. Her closest friend, Barbara Swope, shared many of these interests. The two could talk on the phone for hours, often while watching QVC together and debating what they might order. Their conversations were a treasured part of Willa Jeanne's life in the Reydon community.

After the passing of her son, Rusty, Willa Jeanne moved to Legacy Village of Stillwater. Even in a new setting, she kept her same steady focus on the people around her. Upon adjusting to her life at Legacy Village, Willa Jeanne engaged with new residents welcoming them and sitting with them as they adjusted to a new home and way of life. She quickly became someone both residents and staff looked forward to seeing each day. Her kindness was easy to notice, so much so that she received the community's annual "Gratitude" award two years in a row. Living at Legacy Village also meant she could spend her later years close to family, something that brought her comfort and stability.

Willa Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Gene (E.R.) and Ruby Brewer; her husband, Billy Vernon Shelton; her son, Vernon (Rusty) Eugene Shelton.

She leaves behind her son, Mark Shelton and daughter-in-law, Jan Shelton; her grandchildren: Ryan and Casey Shelton, Christopher and Ashton Shelton, Jared and Lindsey Shelton, Laura and Donald James, and Sarah and Jarrod Battles; her great-grandchildren: Jack, Sawyer, and Ellie Shelton; Addie and Rhett Shelton; Cali and Behrett James; and Evie and Dani Battles.

All were a joy to her and brought meaning to her later years. Willa Jeanne never lost her ties to the Allison and Reydon communities. Even in her final days, she talked often about her family, her friends, and the ranch that meant so much to her. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
