Obituary

Donald (Wayne) Weir was born on September 5, 1940 to John and Cordelia Mae (Goldberg) Weir in Roswell, NM. He passed on July 17, 2026 surrounded by family in Tucson, AZ at the age of 85 years, 10 months, and 12 days.

Wayne grew up in Tucumcari, NM and attended school there. After high school, he attended a trade school in Houston to become a certified electrician. On January 5, 1960, he married Paula Hare in Stilwell, OK and to this union six children were born Calvin Wayne, Samuel Donald, Paula-Rene'e, Julia Nichole', Calvin Luther, and Lafayette Paul-Wayne'. Paula and Wayne began their lives in Houston, TX where he began his electrical career. After trade school, they moved to Tucson, AZ. He started as a journeyman electrician for Pima Mine and worked his way up to foreman. In 1975, Wayne and Paula moved to Elk City, OK. Wayne began working for Locklear Roofing. He went on to began his career in the oil field. He started as a rough neck in the oil field with Rowan. He advanced to the position of tool pusher. Wayne began transporting oil for Enron and retired after working for them for twenty plus years.

In his spare time, Wayne enjoyed fishing and traveling in his R.V. He was baptized at a young age and was a member of the Methodist Church. Wayne loved spending time with his family, especially when it came to his grandkids and great grandkids. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents John and Cordelia Weir, daughter Julia Nichole, sons Samuel Weir, Zackary Weir, son-in-law Nelson Brasuell, and nephew Ellery Stowell.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years Paula Weir of the home, children Calvin Wayne Weir of Elk City, OK, Paula-Rene'e Brasuell of Tuscon, AZ, Calvin Luther Weir of Elk City, OK, and Lafayette Weir of Elk City; grandchildren Rachael, Desiree, Justin, Will, Jesse, Jessi, Jayme, and Jorja; niece Nancy, nephews Stevie, John, and Herman Dale numerous great and great-great grandchildren, extended family and a host of friends.
