Warren Lee Newell, 72, of Elk City, Oklahoma passed away on November 19, 2024. Warren was born in Canadian, Texas on September 9, 1952, to Claude Newell and Jo Ann (Bull) Hepner, both of whom have pre-deceased him.

Warren is survived by his two sisters, Wysonga (Don) Ploeger and Chelita (Ray) Riley, his nieces, Jacqueline (Mike) Aaron and Kelly (Roberto) Ruiz, his three nephews, Logan, Roberto, Samuel, his niece, Jayden, his aunt, Lavonne McPheeters, and stepmom, Frances Newell. He also leaves behind his former wife, Louise Newell, with whom he shared many memories and companionship over 38 years.

A graduate of Cheyenne High School and Oklahoma State University, Warren moved back to Western Oklahoma upon retirement from USDA.

Throughout his life, Warren embarked on many adventures, from offshore rig work to a solitary stint in Utah, from trail bike racing to mastering his airplane. When he set out on a mission, he didn't go halfway. After retirement, Warren followed his passion for the outdoors, especially fishing, golf, motorcycle trips and biking. Warren was a kind-hearted soul with a deep concern for the injustices in the world. Warren's reading library wasn't for those who take things at face value and don't attempt to go deeper into issues; his reading preferences were history, philosophy, and today's societal concerns. Warren struggled with the contradictions between the inhumane actions of today's world betraying the faith professed by many. His dry humor will be remembered as will any of the intellectual conversations that anyone was privileged to be a part of.

Warren will be laid to rest at Bellview Cemetery, near Crawford, Oklahoma, joining generations of his ancestors. Warren spent many of his childhood years in "the bend of the river". A memorial service will be held at Bellview to honor Warren at a later date.

Ride fast, fish deep and fly high, Warren. You will live in our hearts forever as you leave this earthly world. We will miss you terribly.
