Obituary

Vonna Rae Long was born December 10th, 1958 in Sentinel, Oklahoma to Wilda Faye (Barbee) and Kenneth Waugh. She passed away in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 64 years, 5 months, and 3 days.

Vonna grew up living in various places in western Oklahoma. She called Cordell her home and where she graduated from high school 1977. While in high school she was married to Kenneth Morgan and together they made their home in Cordell. After graduation she worked in the banking industry and in nursing home administration all while caring for her family. Vonna was later married to Ricky Long and blended their families in Dill City, Oklahoma. She was one that had strong family values and remained in the home making sure her children were well taken care of. It wasn't until later in life that she furthered her education the University of Oklahoma and the University of Phoenix where she completed her degrees in business administration and nursing home administration. After receiving her degree she was employed with many nursing homes in western Oklahoma. Vonna made the transition from administration to an actual caretaker caring for her mother-in-law and also her husband until she became disabled and was forced to retire due to her health. Vonna enjoyed reading her Bible, devotionals, and spending time with her family and friends at the lake but her passion in life was sharing her faith in Christ with others.

She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and one great grandson, JJ Helvey.

Vonna is survived by 5 children, Tiffany McDorman and husband, Stony, Whitewright, TX, Kama Helvey and Ronald Clark, Sayre, OK, Crystal Peck and husband, Jacob, Canute, OK, Callie Long, Elk City, OK, and Jesse Long and wife, Cindy, Elk City, OK; 14 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great grandson on the way; 3 sisters, Peggy Manor, Treva Waugh, and Millie Woody; 1 brother, Kenneth Waugh and a host of other relatives and friends.
