Vola Darlene (Hillman) York was born in Shattuck, Oklahoma on April 2nd, 1939 to Minnie Vola (Leddy) and Clarence Rexford Hillman. She passed away at Roger Mills Memorial Hospital in Cheyenne, Oklahoma on November 26th, 2024 at the age of 85 years, 7 months, and 24 days.

Darlene grew up in the Shattuck, Oklahoma area and was married on June 2nd, 1957 to Phillip Douglas York. Together they made Durham their home. Darlene had many different roles in her lifetime: wife, mother, dairy hand, store owner, feed store hand, Deedaw (grandmother), dedicated member of the Durham First Baptist Church, faithful companion to her dogs, Daisy and Dixie, just to name a few. Family was always important to Darlene and she was a firm foundation for the rest of the family. Darlene was always ready to listen to you, feed you, support you, and sometimes give advice whether you asked for it or not. All the family even knew when they pushed Darlene to the limits, just by the way she would raise her left eyebrow. When this happened, the family would duck their heads and take cover. Darlene could often be seen reading her Bible, sewing, cooking for her family, and doing things the boys didn't want her to do, but she was the happiest with her kids and grand around her.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Phil York.

Darlene is survived by her 4 children, Terry York and wife, Wanda, Durham, OK, Kathy Cochran, Solomon, KS, Robert York, Durham, OK, and Neil York and wife, Jillian, Dacoma, OK; 15 grandchildren, Jennifer, Joey, Tracy, Bryan, Bryce, Taylor, Brandon, Marissa, Karigan, Elizabeth, Remington, Oakley, Cody, Raymond, and Brandon; numerous great grandchildren; 1 brother, Gerald Hillman, Yukon, OK and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services are still pending at this time and will be published when set. Arrangements are under the direction of Chris Whinery and the staff of Whinery Funeral Service and Cremation Center. The family has asked that memorial donations be made in Darlene's name to Fairview Cemetery, c/o Jennifer York, 8017 N. 1750 Road, Durham, OK 73642.
