Vera Naomi Burckhalter was born January 10th, 1930 in the Dempsey community to Ina Viola and Johnny Joseph Mong. She passed away Thursday, February 23rd, 2023 at the Wheeler Nursing and Rehab Center in Wheeler, Texas at the age of 93 years, 1 month and 13 days.

Vera grew up in the Sweetwater community where she attended school. At the age of 16, she was married to Samie "Buck" Burckhalter on June 1st, 1946. After their marriage, they remained in California where he became a lumberjack for a brief period of time. For the next 21 years, Buck and Vera moved around the Great Western States following the oil field. In 1960, they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where Buck worked for the Atomic energy Corporation. After 6 years they returned to Sweetwater where together they started the Burckhalter Dairy on the family farm. Vera enjoyed sewing, gardening, collecting all kinda of dolls, and spending time with her family and friends. Vera was a member of the Sweetwater Assembly of God Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; 1 son, Teddy Holland; 1 daughter, Ellen Sue Watson; 1 brother, Joe Mong; 4 sisters, Jessi Mong, Ina Lancaster, Joan Scott, and Laura Jones.

Vera is survived by her 2 grandchildren, Ben Burckhalter and wife, April, Sweetwater, OK and Brandi Christian and husband, Barry, Sayre, OK; 3 great grandchildren, Austyn Aldridge, Avery Rhoades and husband, Coleman, Addyson Burckhalter; 4 great great grandchildren William, Callie, Kayden, and Yates and a host of other relatives and friends.
