Obituary

Terry Kent Field was born July 21st, 1954 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Treva Marie (Blanton) and Frank Truett Field. He passed away in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Friday, December 26th, 2025 at the age of 71 years, 5 months and 5 days. Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing he is now in the arms of Jesus and his son Brandon.

Terry grew up in West Texas and Western Oklahoma. He moved with his family to Kiowa, Oklahoma in the 7th grade where he remained until graduation in 1973. Shortly after graduation he married his high school sweetheart, Sherry Lynn (Stiles) in Kiowa on September 7th, 1973. Together they remained in Kiowa for a short period before moving to Oklahoma City and then to Burns Flat where they made their home and raised their children.

Terry served as Mayor for the Town of Burns Flat for over 30 years. He was proud to have been a part of the accomplishments the Town Board of Trustees made through the years to make Burns Flat a good safe place to call home. Terry also had a legendary presence in the oil field, known not only for his work ethic but for his incredible cooking. Sharing food was his way of bringing people together and those meals created lasting friendships and memories.

Terry was an avid outdoorsman which included fishing, hunting and he especially enjoyed "deer camp". His laughter, stories and unmistakable personality filled every space he entered. Anyone who knew Terry knew he was truly larger than life. He loved fiercely and protected his people relentlessly. He was the kind of man you always wanted in your corner loyal, fearless, and unwavering.

Terry was a devoted husband, a proud father, and an even prouder grandfather. His love for his family ran deep, and he showed it through his actions every single day. He had a way of making people feel taken care of and he never hesitated to stand up for what he believed was right.

He was famous for his long drive telephone calls. He would call just to talk — about life, about nothing, about everything. Those conversations will be missed .

Terry loved deeply, lived boldly, and left an unforgettable mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. There will never be another like him. We are forever grateful for the time we had, the love he gave, and the legacy he leaves behind.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Treva Field and his wonderful beloved son, Brandon Field.

Terry is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sherry, of the home; 1 son, Bryce Field, Edmond, OK; 1 daughter-in-law, Rebecca Field, Edmond, OK; 2 grandchildren, Henry Frank and Vivian Ruth, Edmond, OK as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

The family suggest memorial donations be made to the Integris Hospice House of OKC at www.integrisgiving.org or Burns Flat-Dill City Education Foundation.
