Susan Gayle "Susie" Turner was born on March 2, 1950 to William Harvey "Bill" and Emma Jean (McDowell) Turner in Sayre, OK. She passed away on April 17, 2025 at the age of 75 years, 1 month, 15 days.
Susie grew up in Delhi and attended school there until the school closed. She then attended Erick schools and graduated in 1968. Susie then attended Southwestern State College and obtained a bachelors in science and education in 1972. She began teaching elementary education at Erick Public Schools in August of 1972. Susie furthered her education and obtained her masters in education in July of 1982 at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. After 37 years teaching, Susie retired from teaching in 2009.
Susie enjoyed reading, watching soap operas, and shopping. She was a lifelong dedicated member of the First Christian Church in Erick. She was also a member of the CWF. Even after retirement she continued helping with Erick Public Schools by test monitoring, tutoring, and reading to elementary children. She was a board member of the Erick Public Library.
She is preceded in death by her parents Bill and Jean Turner; sister Gloria Jean Farris, and brother-in-law Lyndon Farris.
Susie is survived by her two brothers Pat Turner and wife Dorthene of Atoka, OK and Mike Turner and wife Marla of Hermleigh, TX; two nieces Tracy Broughton and husband Michael of Caney, OK, and Gina Webb of Elk City, OK; 4 nephews Matt Farris of San Angelo, TX, Patrick Turner of Atoka, OK, Jake Turner and wife Liz of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Josh Turner and wife Erica of Lubbock, TX; great nephews Ethan Magby of Norman,OK, Kade Magby and wife Sarah of Tushka, OK, Gabe Webb and wife Jennice of Steilacoom, Washington, Logan Webb and Daxon Webb both of Elk City, OK, Tyler Lozano of Lubbock, TX, Maddox and Hayden Turner of Atoka, OK and Ryan Broughton and wife Stephanie of Brookings, South Dakota; great nieces Madisyn Balthrop and husband Tuc of New Castle, OK, Taylore Farris of Oklahoma City, OK, Abigail Farris of Oklahoma City, and Peyton Turner of Lubbock, TX; great great nieces and nephews Oakley, Nova, Cleo, and Liam; many cousins and a host of friends.
