Sue Donna McDaniel was born February 15, 1937, in Elk City, Oklahoma, to Elmerine (Stewart) and Oral Ward Burnam. She passed away Saturday, August 8, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 89 years, 5 months, and 24 days.

Sue grew up in Elk City, where she attended Elk City Schools. After graduating, she attended junior college in Sayre, Oklahoma, and became a secretary. At the age of 17, she married Gale Brookshier on May 22, 1954. They moved to Wichita, Kansas, before returning to the Berlin community, where they raised their family. In 1985, they moved to Elk City.

Some of Sue's proudest accomplishments included becoming a secretary at a law firm, attending beauty school, and eventually opening her own beauty shop with her sister, Pam, called "Cut & Curl."

In 2011, Sue attended a community social with her sister, Pam, where she met Mark. At the time, Sue was also playing in a band, and Mark came to watch her perform. Their meeting marked the beginning of a beautiful chapter in Sue's life. As they spent more time together, their relationship blossomed, and the rest is history. After two years of dating, Sue and Mark were married in 2013, beginning a life together filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Sue loved playing the guitar, fiddle, and piano, and she especially loved to sing. She also enjoyed attending the Bob Wills Days Festival in Turkey, Texas; gardening, fishing, sewing, traveling to Red River, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends. Sue loved her family fiercely, but most of all she loved God, she was a member of the Second and Adams Church of Christ and loved her church family dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Gale Brookshier; and her brother, Terry Burnam.

Sue is survived by her husband, Mark, of the home; three children, Bradley Brookshier of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; Robbin Lantz and husband, David, of Elk City, Oklahoma; and Candace Schneberger and husband, David, of Elk City, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Linda Tibbitts, Cheryl McGlaun, and Pam Campbell; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Sue will be remembered for her love of music, her warm and generous heart, her sense of humor, and the joy she brought to those around her. Above all, she will be remembered for the love she had for her family and friends and the many memories she created throughout her life. Her love, laughter, and beautiful spirit will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.
