Shirley Rose Sweet was born on June 13, 1932 to Thomas and Laura Gillispie in Las Animas, Colorado. She passed on October 23, 2025 at the age of 93 years, 4 months, and 10 days.

She grew up in Las Animas, Colorado where she attended school and graduated. After high school she married, Ira Sweet and to this union three children were born Gary, James, and Sharon. They lived most of their life in Butte, Montana while Ira worked at the copper mine. During this time Shirley focused on raising the kids and worked as a secretary at Rocky Mountain Equipment. Shirley and Ira moved to Sayre in 1980 where she has resided since.

In her spare time, Shirley loved to read books. Her favorite's where romance novels. One would always find a book in Shirley's hand.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ira Sweet, parents Thomas and Laura Gillispie, daughter Sharon Smith, and brother Donald Gillispie.

Shirley is survived by hers two sons Gary Sweet of Sayre, OK and James Sweet Sr. and wife June of Wright, Wyoming; seven grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
