February 13, 1951 – May 30, 2024

Shirley Dudgeon, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on May 30, 2024, at the age of 73. Born in Phoenix, Arizona, on February 13, 1951, to Sammy Staggs and Zelpha Clemons, Shirley was the first child and only daughter in her family.

Shirley's early years were spent as part of a migrant family, traveling around California with the seasons. Much of her childhood was lived in Lodi, California, which she fondly referred to as her home throughout her life.

Shirley is survived by her two cherished brothers, Ronnie Staggs and Gerald Staggs, and her devoted husband, Gary Dudgeon. Shirley and Gary shared a remarkable bond from the time Shirley was seventeen, resulting in a loving marriage that spanned 56 years.

She leaves behind a rich legacy in her eight children. She is survived by all of her children and their spouses: Crystal and Tony Blackmon,  Cherilyn and Dusty Holden, Gary and Stacy Dudgeon, Chara and Brian Cunningham, Carissa and Michael Teague, Cherrie Dudgeon, Sammy Dudgeon, and Chelsea Kelley. Shirley's love and care extended to her 22 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, with more on the way, who will continue to carry forward her spirit and memory.

Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, an infant sister, and her cherished horse, Lucky, among many other beloved family members and friends.

Her deep affection for animals was a significant part of her life, extending to horses, dogs, llamas, buffalo, goats, chickens, and more. A compassionate soul, Shirley dedicated many years to volunteering at the Etcetera Shop in Weatherford, where she found joy in helping others by sorting donations. Her generosity and willingness to lend a hand were evident to all who knew her.

Shirley will be remembered for her strong will and determination, her commitment to honesty, her unwavering support and care for those she loved, her passion for animals, her kind and giving nature, and last but certainly not least her hard head! Her memory will live on in the hearts of the many lives she touched.

Shirley Dudgeon will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
