Obituary

Sherri Ann Orgain was born September 22nd, 1953 in Sayre, Oklahoma to Billie (Anderson) and George Warren Winburn. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her precious family and dear friends on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 13 days.

Sherri grew up on her family's farm west of Berlin, Oklahoma. She attended Berlin Schools through her 8th grade year before transferring to Cheyenne where she completed high school graduating in 1972. Shortly after graduation she was married to the love of her life, James E. Orgain on July 29, 1972 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. Sherri and James began married life in Cheyenne where Sherri worked in the pants factory in Elk City and also Garrett's Grocery Store in Cheyenne. They later moved to Dodge City, Kansas following Jim's employment as a teacher and coach. Sherri worked in the Dodge City School System as a secretary and clerk for five years. In 1979 they continued to follow Jim's employment to Arapaho and together they welcomed the birth of their first child, Jayme Nicole. After a year, they moved their family and made their home to the farm south of Strong City, Oklahoma. In the spring of 1983 their family grew with the birth of their son, Jason James. For the next 13 years while Jim made the commute to Reydon Public Schools, Sherri continued to raise her family as a homemaker, wife, mother, farm and ranch helper. Although Sherri held various jobs and titles throughout her life, she most cherished the titles of Wife, Momma, and Grammy.

In the fall of 1979, Sherri was compelled and went forward to be saved at a revival at Strong City First Baptist Church. From that point on, Sherri's faith was very evident in her daily life by way of Bible studies, reading the Word, and her daily prayer time. Jim and Sherri continued to grow in their faith at Cheyenne First Baptist Church where they raised their children in the faith. In any spare time she had, Sherri enjoyed reading - especially to her children, tending to her rose bushes, gardening, collecting old coins, and telling jokes to bring joy to others. Sherri always loved making people smile and had an infectious laugh that could brighten any room.

She is preceded in death by her parents and 2 siblings.

Sherri is survived by her husband, Jim, of the home; 2 children, Jayme Elam and husband, Dusty, Stillwater, OK and Jason Orgain and wife, Lindsey, right down the hill; 2 grandchildren, Mason James and Ivy Jo; most recently one foster grandson.
