Sharon Marie Carter

Sharon Marie Carter passed away at her home in Cheyenne, OK surrounded by her loved ones on September 21st, 2026 at the age of 67 years, 3 months and 29 days.

Sharon was born to Martin and Janet (Nelson) Haider in Duluth, MN on May 23, 1959 and raised in the Finland, MN area, graduating from William Kelley High School in Silver Bay, MN in 1979. On December 27, 1975 she married Wayne Carter in Silver Bay, MN; together they welcomed 4 children into the world, Rosalie, Shayne, Travis, and Tonya. The family made their home in Hutchinson, KS before returning to Silver Bay and finally settling in Cheyenne, OK.

She held multiple jobs throughout her life as a postal clerk for the United States Postal Service, for Fluid Disposal, Martin's Trading Post, and B & H Restaurant. Sharon took pride in her work and serving her community, especially during her time with the Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce, where she also assisted in creating the RMC and Cheyenne Eco Development. She was also the Youth Director for the Cheyenne Methodist Church for a number of years.

Sharon was artistic and enjoyed painting and drawing in her free time as well as listening to music and spending time in the outdoors playing softball, camping, and riding motorcycles. She loved her family deeply and cherished her time spent with her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Carter and parents Martin John Haider II and Janet Merle (Nelson) Haider.

She is survived by her children, Rosalie Bailey and husband Clint, Shayne Carter and wife Carol, Travis Carter and wife Angela, and Tonya Roark and husband Mark; 11 grandchildren Christopher, Carissa, and Clayton Bailey; Shaylie Teague and husband Dylan, Carli and Seth Carter; McKenzie and Tailor Carter; Amber Minor and husband Warren, Jade and Violet Roark; 4 great-grandchildren, Easton Bailey; Maddy Teague; Evangeline and Luke Minor; brother Martin Haider III; sisters Connye LaCombe, Janice Szabo, Jackie Spencer, Sandi Davis and husband Chris, and Trisha Whipkey and husband Brian; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.
