Sharon Kay (Easter) Laxton was born June 6th, 1947 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Ida Myrl (West) and Thomas Elvern Easter. She passed away at her home in Sayre, Oklahoma on Saturday, May 7th, 2022 at the age of 74 years, 11 months and 1 day.
Sharon grew up in the Sayre and Delhi communities. She attended schools at Ocena, Delhi, and Sayre where she graduated from Sayre High School in May of 1965. After graduation she was married to Jay Ray Laxton in Delhi, Oklahoma on June 28th, 1965. Together they made Sayre their home and Sharon continued to attend Sayre Junior College. She began her working career at the ASCS office where, for the next 30 years, she assisted countless farmers obtain loans and programs to further their operations. After her retirement from the federal government, she obtained a position at CCA as the wardens secretary. Sharon continued with the prison for the next 10 years and even continued with Americ Inn part time until March of 2020.
All throughout Sharon's life she was a mother that enjoyed outdoor activities, boating, fishing, gardening, visiting with her friends and spending time with her family. Sharon loved people. That was exhibited always meeting someone new for finding an old acquaintances. Sharon was also instrumental on the Sayre planning and zoning committee. Being a member of the Sayre First Baptist Church, she could always be seen decorating for special events with her church family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dee Arlin Easter and 1 sister, Sandra Jean Easter.
Sharon is survived by her husband of nearly 57 years, Jay Ray, of the home; 2 daughters, Kimberly Reynolds, and life partner Lori Crawford, Oklahoma City, OK and Jennifer Jones and husband, Tom, Bossier City, LA; 3 grandchildren, Jimmy Lee Reyonds, III, Justin Jones and Lauren Jones; great grandchildren, Emily Reynolds, Jimmy Lee Reynolds, IV, Houston Reynolds, James Davin Milam, Michael Milam, Tristin Milam, Kyzor Milam, Josiah "Jojo" Reynolds, and Joshua "Brick" Reynolds; brother, Tommy Easter and wife, Janet, Sayre, OK; uncle, Charles Easter, Elk City, OK; aunt, Betty Snodgrass, Yukon, OK and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Trinity Fellowship officiated by Andy Taylor and Eric Easter. Burial will follow at Sayre-Doxey Cemetery under the direction of Chris Whinery and the staff of Affordable Cremation Service-West. Condolences can be made online at www.classicfunerals.com
