Samuel Wayne Johnson was born January 30th, 1945 in Locust Grove, Oklahoma to Gertrude Edna (Fondren) and Samuel Sherman Johnson. He passed away at his home in Sayre, Oklahoma on Thursday, June 11th, 2026 at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 12 days.

Samuel, known by most as "Sammie", grew up in Oklahoma where he attended school. He later moved with his family to California and at the age of 17, with his parents consent, entered the United State Marine Corps on June 18th, 1962. Sammie was stationed in Okinawa during his time of service and completed his service on October 7th, 1966 when he was honorably discharged and returned to civilian life. During his time in the Marine Corps he was married to Gwendolyn (Boughan). Together they brought a son into the world. Sammie found employment first as a roofer and later expanded his work resume by working numerous years operating a wrecker service A&A Towing. He later returned to the roofing industry with the same company. After his marriage with Gwendolyn dissolved, he later met Carol (Boughan) and together they brought 2 daughters into the world. Sammie later moved with his children to Oregon for a period of time before he formally retired and moved to Sayre, Oklahoma. Until his passing, Sammie enjoyed golfing, karaoke, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wives, Gwendolyn Boughan, Carol Boughan; 1 daughter, Rhonda Dewitt; 1 great grandson, Jaxon Maddox; and 4 siblings, Kathy Birge, Ronnie Johnson, Bobby Kay Thomas, and David Johnson.

Sammie is survived by 2 children, Sam Johnson and wife, Brenda, Sayre, OK, and Susan Johnson, California; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 3 siblings, Robin Boatman, Carol Jo Gordan, and Kimberly McCray and a host of other relatives and friends.
