Royce Gene McWhorter born on June 24, 1955 to Chevis and Warenna (Johnson) McWhorter in Elk City, OK. Royce passed from this life on December 3, 2024 at PAM Specialty Hospital in Oklahoma City. He went peacefully, his wife holding his hand. His last words on this earth, just minutes before his passing, were spoken to his wife, Cindy, when he said "I love you " one final time.

A memorial will be held Monday, December 9, 11:00 a.m. at The Link Church, 200 S. Main, Elk City. Cremation services were provided by Chris Whinery and Affordable Cremation – West; Elk City.

Royce loved all sports, but his favorite was OU, of course. Many playful disagreements were made between him and Cindy, as her favorite was OSU. He rooted for both OK teams until that one game we all call bedlam.

Royce and Cindy had the kind of love some never find and had celebrated their 28th anniversary in August. To count the 'real' arguments they had wouldn't take 10 fingers.

Royce was proceeded in death by his brother, Carrin and his wife Tomina; 'niece' Lori Hall; and his parents, Chevis and Warenna.

His is survived by his wife of the home, Cindy Evans-McWhorter; and four children, Tiffany Carter; Brandy and Jerimy Polensky; Brandon Carter; and Lindsey and James Cupp. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; Calista (Gabby), Aiden, Taylor, Alexander, Ava, Elijah, Reilly, Norma,J.J., Gabriel, Kendrick, Kylie, Isabelle, Charlotte, and Madeline. Royce is also survived by his only great grandson, Quincy Smith; sister Judy Parsons; nephews Lavor McWhorter and Belton Neff as well as 'adopted' grandchildren Destiny (Grasshopper) and Tiffany Black, as well as his Smurfette (Rylee Wiseman); and a host of other relatives and friends.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-2a; 4 reads: To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven; A time to be born, and a time to die…A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance.
