Obituary

Rodney Edward Jay was born September 16th, 1977 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Jimmy and Gwendolyn Ross and was later adopted and cared for as their own by Gloria Jean (Ross) and Donnie Dean Jay. He passed away in Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 45 years and 5 months.

Rodney grew up in Elk City, Oklahoma and attended all twelve years at Merritt School. During his high school years he obtained many certifications as an automotive mechanic and graduated with the class of 1997. Upon graduation he went to work with his father at Jay's Brake and Alignment where he continued until 2012. Rodney completed mechanic work and odd jobs for others throughout his life and never passed up the opportunity to help someone. His love of motors aided in his hobbies of building, driving and enjoying sand rails and 4 wheelers, helping his father at the local car races, traveling to the mountains with his family, and in his younger years being a part of the Elk City Round-Up.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Margie and Roscoe Ross, Lola Mae Dye, Robert and Lola Jay; aunt and uncle.

Rodney is survived by his 5 children, Kenleigh, Rayleigh, Presleigh, Connor, and Christopher Jay; 1 grandson, Dylan Charles Hust; his parents, Dean and Jean Jay, Elk City, OK and Jeanne Parks and husband, Dick, Reydon, OK; 4 siblings, Shawn Jay, Ryan Jay, Christina Dove, and Christopher Kirkpatrick and a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life for Rodney will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Chris Whinery and the staff of Affordable Cremation Service-West. Condolences can be made online at www.classicfunerals.com
