Obituary

Willie Roderick Wright was born July 3rd, 1944 in Maud, Oklahoma to Ruth Elizabeth (Lewis) and Willie Waldon Wright. He passed away at his home in Elk City on Tuesday, March 7th, 2023 at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 4 days.

Willie, known by most as "Rod", grew up in Seminole, Oklahoma where he attended school graduating in 1962. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served during the Vietnam war until his discharge in 1966. After his discharge he returned to Seminole, Oklahoma where he met and was later married to Becky Leigh (Pinley) on April 10th, 1967. After their marriage he worked with his father at Seminole Company and later Baker Oil Tools living and making their home in Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, and Kansas while Willie was working in the oilfield. The last 5 years of Rod's career he was employed with Cimerex where he held the job of consultant. They returned to Elk City in 2000 to make their home. When Rod wasn't working he enjoyed woodworking, watching the University of Oklahoma football, fishing, watching John Wayne and reading the Bible.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and an infant brother.

He is survived by 4 daughters, Lisa Moss, McCloud, OK, Shelley Kiley and husband, Jason, Liberal, KS, Jennifer Hollan and husband, Matt, Weatherford, OK, and Crystal Wright, Vici, OK; 1 son, Richard Wright, Lexington, OK; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 11th, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Fairlawn Cemetery officiated by Joe Thompson. Arrangements are under the direction of Chris Whinery and the staff of Affordable Cremation Service-West. Condolences can be made online at www.classicfunerals.com
