Robert "Rufus"
Drbousek
May 13, 1956 — Sep 14, 2025
It is with great sadness that Robert (Rufus) L. Drbousek, Jr. lost his battle with cancer on September 14, 2025.
Born on May 15, 1956 to Robert and Marilyn Drbousek at Camp Lejeune, NC., Robert spent his early years bouncing around US Marine installations with his five other siblings until family issues resulted in their placement into the foster care system while living in CA. In 1969, Bob and Barbara Beck of Elk City, gladly took him in where he joined the Beck family and became siblings to Phillip, Lynn, and Connie. Since Bobby Beck was in the Marine Corps, Rufus continued living on Marine installations until Bobby retired in 1972 and made Elk City his retirement home where Rufus resided. Upon graduation from Elk City High School in 1974, Rufus enlisted in the Marines serving as a Motor Transport Driver. Following his service in the Marine Corps, Rufus spent many years working in the old field and was proud of his roughneck moniker. Later he began his career as a civil servant working for the City of Lawton and the City of Elk City. If you knew Rufus, you knew he could fix about anything as well as engage in construction projects.
He loved volunteering at the Elk City Food Bank in his later years while making his rounds conducting business face-to-face across Elk City.
A faithful follower of Jehovah, he was a member of the Elk City Kingdom Hall.
Robert was pre-deceased by his biological parents, Robert and Marilyn Drbousek, several biological siblings, Bobby Beck, Barbara Beck, and sister, Connie Bergfalk.
