Robert "Bob" Ezzell was born to John and Vela Mae Ezzell at his Uncle JP and Aunt Lora's home in Sayre, Oklahoma, on July 29, 1943. He attended school in Sayre, graduating in 1961, and later served in the National Guard from 1963 until his honorable discharge in 1970.

In 1964, Robert met Lynda Fincher through mutual friends. Their courtship led to marriage on January 28, 1966, at Berlin Baptist Church, where the ceremony was officiated by Lynda's father. After marrying, they made their home in Sayre and began their family, welcoming their first son, Robbie, followed by three more children: Lisa, Brad, and Jon. Throughout the years, the family lived in various places across Oklahoma and Texas before settling permanently in Sayre in 1980.

Robert's strong work ethic took root at the young age of five, when he helped his parents pull cotton on the family farm. He went on to work for neighboring farmers and later at Brown's Grocery. After he and Lynda married, Robert held a variety of jobs, including Rock Island Railroad and dairy farming. The couple eventually purchased the Kerr-McGee station on Route 66 from his father-in-law. When I-40 was built, they sold the station and moved to Altus, Oklahoma, where Robert worked for Badger Oil. The family later relocated to Balko, Oklahoma, so Robert could work as a school mechanic and Lynda could be close to her mother. After Lynda's mother's passing, they spent a brief period of time in Woodward, Oklahoma, before returning to Sayre, where Robert worked for Al Reeds Diesel Service in Elk City for several years before opening his own business, Western Oklahoma Diesel, which he operated until 2005. He then semi-retired and spent 11 years working for the Beckham County Courthouse.

In 2016, Robert fully retired, enjoying quiet days with Lynda—watching old Westerns, catching up on Fox News, and caring for the many cats he had adopted over the years. In 2021, the couple fulfilled a longtime dream by returning to the family farm, which had been in his family since 1947. Robert treasured sharing stories of his childhood and life on the farm.

Though he rarely expressed his feelings in words, Robert's love was evident in his actions. His family always knew the depth of his devotion through his countless acts of service and his constant willingness to put others before himself. He never passed up a chance to help someone in need.

The world is a dimmer place without Robert, but his family takes comfort in knowing he passed peacefully at the family farm he cherished and is now reunited with his beloved wife, Lynda.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Lynda Fincher-Ezzell, his parents John and Vela Mae Ezzell, son-in-law, Rick Moody, brother-in-law, Phil Leddy, sisters-in-law Gay Fincher and Sharon Fincher, nephew Darren Fincher, and his beloved chihuahua of 20+ years, EZ.

He is survived by his four children, Robbie Ezzell and his wife, Rebekka, Lisa Moody, Brad Ezzell and his wife, Vicki, and Jon Ezzell and his wife, Erin; eight grandchildren, Chris Ezzell and his wife, Reba, Cindy Irvin and her husband, Levi, Joe Ezzell, and his wife, Vanessa, Trevor White, Lauren Sandoval and her fiancé, Tommy Acuna, Alysandra Ezzell and her fiancé Michael Fields, Melynda Ezzell, and Bailey Ezzell; 12 great-grandchildren, Julie Ezzell, Lucas Ezzell, Whitley Daniels, Blakely Ezzell, Emberly Ezzell, Cadence Irvin, Caroline Irvin, Kortlee Mayfield, Korbin Sandoval, Kordell Sandoval, Lexie Acuna, and Mateo Ezzell; siblings, Mary Leddy, Roy Ezzell and his wife, Lou, Melba Highley and her husband, Rich; siblings-in-law, Larry Fincher, Gary Fincher and his wife, Julie, Robert Leon Fincher, Glenda Coffey, and Debbie Hicks and her husband, Gary; nephews and niece, Darin Leddy, Brian Leddy, Ross Highley, and Elizabeth Boehm, numerous nieces and nephews in law; and his dog, Freckles.
