Robert Gerald Brown was born April 1st, 1947 in Gracemont, Oklahoma to Ruby Juanita (Cantrell) and Lynn Brown. He passed away at his home east of Elk City, Oklahoma on Sunday, July 31st, 2022 at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 30 days.
Robert, known by some as "Bob", moved at a young age to Elk City with his parents. He attended Elk City schools and was drafted into the United States Marine Corps. He was married to Sharon Kay (Alexander) on June 4th, 1966 and in September of that same year was sworn in and served overseas during Vietnam. Robert served a total of 6 years and upon his discharge he and Sharon moved to Michigan and Oklahoma City before returning to Elk City in 1980 to make their home. Robert was a subcontractor brick mason and worked on many buildings and projects in and around the Elk City area. In the early 90's, Robert began farming with his father-in-law and when he retired from brick laying he continued farming. He also loved fishing at anytime and in any weather and spending time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Lavoda Davis; 1 brother, Terry Brown.
Robert is survived by his wife, Sharon, of the home; 2 children, Michelle Brown and finace`, Doug Nooner, Elk City, OK and Robert Brown and wife, Sonya, both of Elk City, OK; 10 grandchildren, Kasi Holder, Lee Willeford, Ausha Merz, Amber Nooner, Jennifer Mooney and husband, Clay, Robert Brown, Samantha Brown, Darcie Miller, and Logan Miller; 17 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 9, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at the Canute Fire Department Annex officiated by James Dean. Arrangements are under the direction of Chris Whinery and the staff of Affordable Cremation Service-West. Condolences can be made online at www.classicfunerals.com
