Patsey Josephine Rogers was born December 6th, 1946 to Royal P. and Blanche Rogers, the first of four children and preceded in death by her parents and younger brother Randy Rogers (Hospice RN). She leaves behind sister Diane and brother-in-law Robert Hutchinson and younger sister, DeDe Rogers of Edmond, OK, her daughter Merrie Jeaux Terry, grandsons Logan D. and Ethan P. Barnes of TX. Patsey also wanted her companion cat, Junie, listed that gave her 17 years of total love and affection.

Patsey attended Edgemere Elementary and Harding Jr./Sr. High School and graduated in the class of 1965. After high school graduation she attended a photography school in Oklahoma City and after completing the school she was hired by a photography studio and moved to Shreveport, LA where she enjoyed her special talent of oil colorization of portraits. Her most well-known client was the internationally acclaimed pianist, Van Cliburn, and she designed his concert publicity posters for his venues. The first time she was introduced to him, he asked for an ashtray - being nervous her hands were moist an when she "handed" the ashtray to him it was actually a "THROW"!! Nice first impression! She has had some interesting jobs in her varied work career but eventually moved to TX and attended TWU and graduated with Honors with a Bachelor Degree in Business. She applied for work with a lighting company in Dallas which required traveling which she loved. She was given large movie theaters to design their new lighting systems and her big job came when she flew to Salt Lake City, UT to design lighting for a well-known gathering place called, "The Square", adjacent to the Morman Cathedral.

She married a professor and with their daughter moved to Tampa, FL where her husband had gotten a new teaching job and she had gotten a job with the Tampa Tribune selling classified advertising and later was promoted to Editor of Classifieds. Her husband became ill and passed and she sent her young daughter and stepson to Oklahoma City to live with her parents temporarily. Patsey moved back to Oklahoma City and decided to run for the OK State Senate Seat in our family home's district and went up against a 4-term incumbent and lost by 120 votes. She was always competitive but decided she needed to find something different, so politics were out but she always voted. While Diane was visiting her at the assisted living, she said you know the election is coming up and I need to register here in Texas to vote. So Diane and Patsey decided that they needed to get her registered to vote and they would fill out a form that she no longer lived in Oklahoma but moved to Texas but sadly that never got accomplished.

Patsey decided she could still work for the people of Oklahoma and applied for an auditing job with the State Daycare Division and traveled to all 77 counties inspecting daycares for "questionable activities" in daycare, especially "ghost children" the State was paying for. She had good instincts and was a good auditor and many facilities were closed. After helping her brother and sister with their mother with lung cancer care during the day she'd come in from work and take the night duties. She took time off and was ready to go back to work and she started working for the State Department of Agriculture doing surveys with farmers and ranchers for the U.S. Government obtaining information about their yields, number of cattle, etc. many time they would be on a survey for hours as the questions needed were sometimes lengthy. Patsey loved talking to these people and was interested in their business and getting the correct information written down was her specialty. Patsey had been recognized by her superiors of her work ethic and was truly interested in farming and ranching business in every state she called, not just Oklahoma. She needed a re-charge so Patsey took several weeks off and then decided she would retire. She knew her health was getting the best of her and she really didn't want any new surgeries as she'd had 24 that she could list. She was so appreciative of her primary care Dr. Vatsala Shah and her stomach surgeon Dr. Amit Saha at Mercy Hospital that she wanted them remembered in her service. On December 31, 2023, Patsey fell in her home and was on the floor without her phone for 5 hours and eventually could reach her phone and called EMSA to come take her to the E.R. She had to go back two hours later an they admitted her to the hospital. Dr. Saha had to repair the damage she had and weeks later she went into rehab but had trouble walking. By the time she left Oklahoma City to go to Colleyville, TX for assisted living she could not walk anymore and needed to use a wheelchair. While in her new and beautiful assisted living she was pampered and looked after by her aides, Stacey & Gabby, personal nurse Forestine, and Tribute Hospice. They were wonderful and they all loved taking care of her. The family can't say enough about Molly, her Hospice RN, she was an angel in disguise and she told Merrie "that her mother was one of my favorite patients and always smiling or thanking them for their care." She had visits from her nephew and grandsons bringing their babies, Caiden age 1 and Azalea age 7 months to see her visit. Our brother's son, Ryan Rogers, texted after he was informed of Patsey's passing, "she's hangin' with dad now"! We all got a well-needed great laugh out of his text!

Patsey was always a positive person but too many health issues compounded her ability to function at her best and the pain had finally gotten to be too much. God sends special people to do hospice nursing and help take away the pain! She has made many life-long friends and cherishes each and everyone of you!! She will be greatly missed by all of us!
