Obituary

Oneida "Sue" (Tompkins) Maysey was born on November 18th, 1933 in Paoli, OK, and went to be with our Lord on December 22nd, 2023 in Elk City, OK.

Sue attended Elementary, Jr. High, and High School at Pauls Valley until her sophomore year, when her family moved to Luther, where she graduated. While is high school she completed business classes and continued her education at Central State College in Edmond.

She joined the staff of the Citizens Bank & Trust in Okmulgee in January 1958, where she worked for 9 ½ years. While with the bank in Okmulgee, she met and married David C. Maysey in February 1961. She served as President of the Okmulgee Jaynes and was involved in the formation of the Okmulgee Girls Town. In August of 1966 the family moved to Tulsa, where she was employed at Mercantile Bank & Trust until December of 1971.

In January of 1972, Sue and David purchased stock in The First State Bank in Canute, where she served as Sr Vice President, Auditor, and Director. She was employed at the bank until January of 2005, at which time David and Sue sold their stock in the bank and retired.

Sue was a member of the Elk City United Methodist Church. She was very active in the Canute Park Restoration project and was always working to help the town of Canute in any community improvement activities. Sue was a member of the National Association of Women Bankers. She was also in involved in the Western Oklahoma Bankers Association where she served as an officer and director at various times.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Maysey, the love of her life. They were married for 49 years. The two worked together 45 years in the banking industry. Parents, James C. Tompkins and Bessie (Ward) Tompkins, and sister LaVern Vorel and husband Paul Vorel of Luther, OK.

Sue Maysey is survived by a son, David (Chuck) Maysey Jr. of Elk City, OK. Niece, Marsha Root and husband David Root of Canute, OK. Niece, Beth Stetson and spouse Kathryn Ramsay of Norman, OK. Nephew, Mike Perkins and wife Myrna Perkins of Clinton, OK. Nephew, Ron Perkins and wife Karen Perkins of Bixby, OK. Niece, Patty Millard and husband Joe Millard of Catoosa, OK, and nephew Randall "Doc" Perkins and wife Marilyn Perkins of Tulsa, OK. And special Great Niece, Tracy Beutler and husband Rhett Beutler of Canute, OK, and special Great Nephew, Dr. Greg Root and wife Andrea Root of Okarche, OK.

She leaves behind a host of other family members, and former co-workers and friends and everyone which she touched in her 90 years.
