Obituary

Neva Dean Higgins was born October 20, 1932, at home to Aubrey Lee and Carrie Marie (Hay) Higgins. She passed away on November 15, 2022, at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years and 26 days.

Neva grew up in the Meridian community until the 4th grade when they moved to Durham. She married Erwin Lee "Red" Parman on May 14, 1950. They lived with her folks until she graduated in 1951 and then moved to the Dempsey community where Red farmed, and Neva was a wife and homemaker. To this union one son and three daughters were born. Red and Neva were baptized at the Dempsey Church of Christ sometime in the 1950's. After Red's death in 1986, she worked at the Cheyenne Hospital, Cheyenne Senior Citizens, and Market Square. On July 17, 2000, she married Sylvester Churchill. They lived at Durham and spent their time feeding cows, going to the grandkids school events, going to church and community activities, and playing Farkle with their friends. They moved to Cheyenne in 2018 and remained there until their health began to decline earlier this year. Neva enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, putting puzzles together, and gardening, from which she gained the nickname green thumb from her husband.

Neva was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Red, one sister, Juanita Pierce, and two brothers, Hershel Higgins, and Alvin Higgins.

Neva is survived by her husband, Sy, of the home; one son, Randy Parman and wife, Denise, Cheyenne, OK; three daughters, Marveda Parman, Cheyenne, OK, Kathy Tidwell and husband, Doug, Cheyenne, OK, and Dayna Coker and husband, Dewayne, Reydon, OK. When she married Sy, she gained two loving daughters, Ann Peetoom and husband, Bill, Shattuck, OK and Cathy Canary, and husband, Linn of Oklahoma City, OK. Five grandchildren, Brian Coker and wife, Lindsay, Kassie Meador and husband, Brent, Julia Beene, and husband Brad, Andrew Tidwell and wife, Brittany, W A Peetoom, and wife Stephanie. Nine great grandchildren: Jill and Austin Meador, Emma and Ethan Coker, Easton and Olivia Beene, and Will, Josh, and Alex Peetoom, another on the way, and a host of relatives and friends.
