Mary Mitchell Leistner was born in Xenia, Ohio on October 17th, 1957 to Helen Marie (Williams) and Luster Day. She passed away in Elk City, Oklahoma on Thursday, April 20th, 2023 at the age of 65 years, 6 months and 3 days.

Mary, known by most at "Mitchy", grew up in Fairborn, Ohio where she attended school graduating from Park Hill High School in 1975. After graduation she moved to Altus, Oklahoma to be a nannie to her niece. Mitchy found herself in Granite, Oklahoma where she continued as a corrections officer and held many jobs throughout the years ending up as a case manager after. She retired after a 30 plus years career in 2011 and was a substitute teacher for a couple years and spent the majority of her time with grandchildren, other family, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Lola Day-Hartnell.

Mitchy is survived by her 2 children, Stephanie Newton, and Travis Leistner; 3 grandchildren, Izabella Newton, Savannah Smith, and Jaxon Smith; 2 sisters, Ramona VanHoose and Eula Day; 2 nieces, Gretchen Hartnell, and Anastasia Day and a host of other relatives and friends.
