Obituary

Melinda Kay Callan was born October 2nd, 1947 in Wheeler County, Texas to Verna Faye (Greenhouse) and Martin Dudley Callan. She passed away Tuesday, January 13th, 2026 in Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years, 3 months and 11 days.

Melinda, known by most as Kay, grew up in Wheeler, Texas where she attended school. She met and later married Monroe Allen Page on April 21st, 1962. They made their home in Wheeler, Texas as well as a few other towns following Monroe's employment until settling in Elk City, Oklahoma in 1970. Kay found employment with Elk City Cleaners before beginning her career in floral design. She started at Watkins Flowers and later for the Hylton family at Hylton's Flowers where she was a floral designer. She remained there until the Hylton family sold the flower shop and later found employment with the Butcher family at Carol's Shoe Corner as well as the Albert family at Circle A Western Wear. She retired in mid 1990's and took care of her grandchildren. Kay could usually be found around the holiday's at Hylton's Flowers and Gifts helping Hayley Bashaw in their busiest seasons. She also enjoyed anything dealing with her family and spending time with them, working in her yard, and cooking so everyone had something to eat.

She is preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Zackary Pipes; and 2 great granddaughters, Paizlie Kay and Penelope.

Kay is survived by her daughter, Tammie Jones, Sayre, OK; son, Dane Page, Elk City, OK; 2 bonus children, Stephanie Deal and husband, Dustin and Kellie Randall and husband, John; her grandchildren, Chandra Boyd, Evan Watts and wife, Veronica, Rickey Pipes, Victoria Pipes, Chance Page and wife, Chelsie, Tori Page, and Brice Swaim and wife, Jesse; 1 bonus grandson, Cash Deal; great grandchildren, Braden, Jagger, Emma, Ellie, Eli, Katelynn, Kaci, Raithe, Zackary, Zayden, Zander, LaikLynn, AJ, Rynlee Kay, Layton, Zaylie, Taysom, Kennedy, and Kollyns; great great grandson, Asher Watson; sister, Cathy Miller and husband, Danny and a host of other relatives and friends.
