Melba Dean Baker was born September 4th, 1933 in Goodlett, Texas to Charles and Myrtis Lumpkin. She passed away in Elk City, Oklahoma on Monday, November 11th, 2024 at the age of 91 years, 2 months and 7 days.

Melba grew up in Goodlett, Texas and graduated from Central View High School in 1951. After graduation she began her family and moved to New York following the military. Eventually they returned to Mangum, Oklahoma where all 5 of their children were raised. Melba remained in Mangum, Oklahoma until just a few short years ago when she moved to Elk City to be near her daughter. Melba was a seamstress and enjoyed quilting, crafts, and gardening as well as spending time with her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; 4 children and 4 brothers.

Melba is survived by her daughter Karen Coulter and husband, Scott, Elk City, OK; 6 grandchildren and a host of other extended relatives and friends.
