Obituary

Marvin Ray Elliott was born on May 19, 1940 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Opal Mae (Thompson) and Tommy D. Elliott. He passed away Friday, October 21, 2022 in Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 2 days.

Marvin grew up in Canute where he attended school graduating in 1958. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served stateside during peace time. He received an honorable discharge after his father tragically passed away. After his discharge, he returned to Canute where he helped his mother on the family farm. He was reacquainted with a high school friend Betty (Rushing) and they were married on December 1, 1962. Together they made their home in Canute where they raised their four children. Throughout the years, Marvin farmed for many different people. He helped his children raise hogs to show and spent countless hours on the tractor. Marvin continued until his health forced his retirement in 2019. He could always be found fishing, selling pecans and produce, riding the tractor, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one aunt, Audrey Williams and 2 cousins, Linda Williams and Phyllis Williams.

Marvin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty, of the home; 4 children, Sue Wallin and husband, Doug, of Elk City, OK, Tommy Elliott and companion, Jeanne Henry, of Elk City, OK, Craig Elliott and wife, Sheila, of Edmond, OK, and Dennis Elliott and wife, Erica, of Wanette, OK. 12 grandchildren; Susan, Brandon, Kayla, Keevin, Levi, Jessica, Dustin, Aimee, Ashley, Tyler, Destanie, and Skyler. 26 great grandchildren; 1 great grandson on the way; 3 special cousins, Leon Williams and wife, Luada, Tommy Williams and wife, Kema, and Clyde Williams; 3 nephews, Kevan Bence, Jeremy Rushing, and Jason Rushing, all of Oklahoma City; some very special friends, Melvin and Pete Hutson of Elk City, OK, Debbie and Howard Olmstead of Elk City, OK; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held Friday, October 28, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at The Way Church officiated by Daryle Perry. Services are under the direction of Chris Whinery and the staff of Affordable Cremation Service-West. Condolences can be left online at www.classicfunerals.com
