Maria "Chavela" Isabel Sandoval was born on September 12, 1935 to Geronimo and Genoveva (Trevino) DeLuna in Somerset, TX. She passed away on May 7, 2025 at the age of 89 years, 7 months, and 25 days.

Maria grew up in the southern Texas area, where her father worked for several farmers. She attended school until 8th grade, where she quit and went to work to help support her family. On September 11, 1959, Maria married Eristeo Sandoval at the Sacred Heart Church in Mathis, TX. To this union six children were born, Esmeralda, Lorenza, Pablo, Eristeo, Ramon, and Edwardo. Maria loved her family and worked hard to take care of them and make sure there needs were always met.

In her spare time, she loved to travel and do word puzzles, Her favorite thing was to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known for her garden and her cooking skills and the family loved to get together to have family meals. She was a member of Queen of All Saints Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies Altar Society.

She is preceded in death by her husband Eristeo Sandoval Sr., parents Geronimo and Genoveva DeLuna, two granddaughters Lisa Marie Sandoval and Esperanza Sandoval, two brothers David DeLuna and Geronimo Deluna Jr., three sisters Lazarita Ozuna, Estella Sandoval, and Ofelia Guzman.

Maria is survived by her children Esmeralda Sandoval of Sayre, OK, Lorenza Curtis and husband Donald of Sayre, OK, Pablo Sandoval and wife Michele of Erick, OK, Eristeo Sandoval and wife Janan of Elk City, OK, Ramon Sandoval and wife Tami of Elk City, OK, Edwardo Sandoval of Seminole, OK; 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild; three sisters Genoveva Gonzales, Maria Louisa Molina, and Rosa Sam and husband Teodoro; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
