Manuel Quintela Olivas was born on August 17, 1938 to Henry and Josephine (Quintela) Olivas in Fort Stockton, Texas. He passed on November 7, 2024 in Elk City at his home surrounded by family at the age of 86 years, 2 months and 21 days.
He grew and attended school at Fort Stockton. After graduating high school, he went into the army. He served in the army for four years serving in the air born division. After faithfully serving his country, Manuel began a career in truck driving. He drove a truck for 60 plus years before he was forced to retire because of his health. He also worked on and off as a seismographer. In 1978 Manuel married Linda in Amarillo, TX. Both Linda and Manuel drove trucks.
Manuel enjoyed playing golf and working on old cars, especially when it came to his own 1964 Thunderbird. He liked the outdoors, boating and fishing. He loved his family and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Josephine Olivas, grandchildren Brittney Kaye Cook, Manuel Christopher Olivas, Delilah Olivas, Brandie Torres.
Manuel is survived by his wife of the home Linda Olivas; children Rosemary Olivas of Odessa, TX, Manuel Olivas Jr of Midland, TX, Corina Adame of Odessa, TX, Ismael Olivas of Fort Stockton, TX, Cynthia Jurado of Odessa, TX, Rhonda Olivas of Elk City, OK, Edward Olivas of Crowely, TX, Tonai Lipe of Elk City, OK, Manuela Cook of Wynne, AR, and Yvonne Nunez of Odessa, TX; 28 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, and 38 great great grandchildren; brother Luis Olivas of Hobbs, NM; sister Mauricia Gonzales; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
