Mahota Irene Stamper was born on May 16, 1948, to George Wilbur (Buddy) and Mahota Maxine (Black) Hapeman in Pampa, TX. She passed on November 28, 2025, at the age of 77 years, 6 months, and 12 days.

She grew up in Pampa, Texas with her two brothers, Wilbur and Eugene. She attended Pampa schools and graduated Pampa High School in 1967. On August 11, 1967, she married G.A. Stamper and to this union a daughter, Tina, was born. They made their home south of Cheyenne, where Mahota kept up the home and helped G.A. on the farm. During her life, she also worked as a CNA at the nursing home in Leedey and for Home Health. She served on the election board in Roger Mills County. She later worked at the Tax Assessor's office and served as a deputy for the County Treasurer and County Clerk's Office for Roger Mills County until she retired in 2023.

Mahota was a distinguished columnist who contributed numerous articles to the Cheyenne Star and various other local newspapers throughout her career. She was an avid quilter and made quilts for the public. She hand-quilted for people in California, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas. She also loved making quilts for her family and friends. In addition to quilting, she loved to crochet. A few of her crocheted creations are on display at the Cheyenne Museum. Mahota was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Cheyenne. Mahota loved spending time with her family playing cards, board games, and dominoes. Her family and friends will deeply feel her absence.

Mahota passed away after her parents, her husband G.A. Stamper, her son-in-law Scott Parker, her niece Stephanie Cook, and her nephew Jason Wheeler.

She is survived by her daughter Tina Parker of Pampa, TX, two grandsons Morgan Parker of Dakota City, Iowa and Aaron Parker of Lufkin, TX; one granddaughter Addyson Parker of Pampa, TX; two brothers Wilbur Hapeman and wife Karen and Eugene Hapeman and wife Paula, all of Pampa, TX; niece Dalene Hapeman of Amarillo, TX; nephews Chad Hapeman and Brandon Hapeman both of Pampa, TX, and Landon Hapeman of Ryan, OK; many great nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
