Obituary

Lynda Ann (Vermillion) White, age 80, of Elk City Oklahoma, passed from this earth to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus, and to join her husband Billy and loved ones in heaven on Friday, May 22nd 2026, in Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City OK. Lynda ran the race set before her well with joy and gladness, only to succumb to the complications of Lung Cancer.

Lynda was born to her Father, Tom John (TJ) Vermillion, and Mother, Murl Earnestine Cowen Vermillion, on June 19th 1945. Lynda was raised, along with her brothers, Tom John (Sonny) Vermillion Jr. and Michael (Mike) Omar Vermillion, in Elk City Oklahoma, graduating from Elk City High School in May of 1963. Lynda played basketball and was active in various school organizations, but her favorite of all was softball.

Lynda married the love of her life, Billy White, in Elk City Oklahoma on September 26th 1964, and as both Billy and Lynda said, "that is when our adventure began". During early years of Lynda and Billy's 53 year marriage, Billy was a soldier in the United States Army, reaching the rank SSG ( Staff Sergeant). Billy's military enlistment allowed for Lynda and "the boys" to follow Billy to bases of station of Ft. Leonard Wood Missouri, Redwood Falls Minnesota, Darmstadt West Germany, and Ft. Hood Texas. Wherever Billy was stationed Lynda was an active volunteer in the Dependent Youth Activities. Lynda's involvement in the DYA provided the opportunity to Coach High School age girls' softball, basketball, and cheerleading teams, along with teaching classes at the DYA. After Billy ended his military career, Lynda and he returned to their home town of Elk City Oklahoma. Lynda was a homemaker, and Billy worked for various oilfield companies. Lynda lived in Elk City for the remainder of her life.

Lynda is survived by her three sons, Billy White Jr., Robert (Robby) White and wife Audra, and Michael White and wife Staci, all of Elk City Ok. Grandchildren, Hannah White, Thomas White, Micheal Redd, Ronny Wilson Jr., Vanessa Pruit, and fourteen Great Grandchildren. Lynda is survived by her brothers, Sonny Vermillion of Blanchard Ok., Mike Vermillion of Oklahoma City OK., along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Lynda is preceded in death by her husband Billy, her parents TJ and Murl Vermillion, Father and Mother-in-law Jerry and Opal White, Fraternal Grandparents John and Viola Vermillion, Maternal Grandparents Pitt and Eula Cowen, and Uncles, Aunts, and cousins all beloved by Lynda.
