Linda Edwards was born November 25th, 1955 to Laurellen (Cardin) and AB Witt. She passed away in Amarillo, Texas on Friday, December 20th, 2024 at the age of 69 years and 25 days. She was surrounded by family and praising Jesus until her last breath.

In 1971, Linda married Jimmy Schmidt, from this marriage her two children, Julie and Chris were born. In 1978, she married Ted Burckhalter and gained two children, Ben and Brandi. She cared for Ted until his death in 1993. After many years of friendship with Jim Edwards, they developed a relationship. Linda considered him to be her best friend, life's partner, and soul mate.

In 1996, Linda gained a daughter-in-law, Michelle by her marriage to Chris. She considered Michelle a daughter always and kept her as one even after the tragic loss of Chris in 2002. In March of that same year, Linda gained her youngest daughter, Destaney. She spoke often of how having Destaney saved her life and gave her the strength to keep going every day after losing Chris and Trenten.

After many years of building a life together, Linda and Jim eloped on November 12th, 2021 at the Assembly of God Church in Sweetwater, OK. Throughout their years together they worked side by side in everything they did. This included building multiple businesses, gardening, camping at the lake, boating and Linda loved to fish.

Linda held many jobs over the years and played many roles in the lives of others. She worked on her family farm throughout her life. She had a strong work ethic which was something she passed on to her children. She was a homemaker, a caregiver, a mentor, Sweetwater school board member for over 20 years, and friend. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her kids and grandkids. Linda was the definition of unconditional love.

She is preceded in death by her daddy, AB Witt; son, Chris Schmidt; grandson, Trenten Isaac James Schmidt and both her paternal and maternal grandparents.

Linda is survived by her husband, Jim, of the home; 6 children, Julie Skelton, Elk City, OK, Ben Burckhalter and wife, April, Sweetwater, OK; Brandi Christian, Sayre, OK, Michelle Schmidt, Tuttle, OK, Destaney Edwards, Ripley, OK, and Jody Lane, Chickasha, OK; 8 grandchildren, Cody, Christian, and Coby Skelton, Nathan Dunlap, Ethan Schmidt, Austyn Blevins, Avery Rhoads, and Addyson Burckhalter; 8 great grandchildren and one on the way; her mother, Laurellen Witt, Sweetwater, OK; 2 sisters, Laura Nell Hays and husband, Daryl, Elk City, OK and Vonda Walls and husband, Kerry, Canby, OR and a host of other relatives and friends.
