Leonard Berry Morgan was born April 30, 1931 to Erby Ervin and Lee Ella (Hallford) Morgan in Goldthwaite, Texas on the family farm along the Colorado River. He passed on September 15, 2024 in Elk City, OK at the age 93 years, 4 months, and 16 days.
Leonard grew up in central Texas. He attended Runge High School and graduated with the class of 1948. He attended college at South West Texas in San Marcus. TX and acquired his bachelor degree in agriculture. Upon graduating from South West Texas, Leonard was drafted in the United States Army. He served in the Counter Intelligent Corp. While serving in the Army, he was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. After two years, he was stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. It was here that he met the love of his life Florence Morgan. On June 23, 1956 Leonard married Florence in San Antonio and to this union two daughters were born Janet Lee and Judy Lynn.
After serving in the Army he worked for the US Soil Conservation service and was the manager of Gifford Hill Irrigation. Later he got his teaching certificate and began his career as an Ag teacher and principal. He taught in Knox City, Three Way and Silverton all in Texas. Leonard retired in the early nineties from teaching and made his home in Llano, TX. He built his own home in Llano.
Leonard raised goats and enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He was a Master Mason and served as the lodge master in Llano. He was a Mason for over 70 years.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents Erby and Lee Ellen Morgan.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years Florence Morgan; two daughters Janet Lee and husband David Gibbs of Florida and Judy Lynn and husband Scotty of Elk City, OK; grandchildren Matthew Gibbs of Florida; Nathan Gibbs and wife Michele of Florida; Jeanie Adams and husband Leon of Eakley, OK; great grandchildren Morgan May, and Allison Grace Gibbs, Scott Eugene and Deklin James Adams; extended family and a host of friends.
