Leo
Adams
Nov 2, 1935 — Jun 8, 2023
Leo Edward Adams was born on November 2nd, 1935 in Canute, Oklahoma to Annie Hattie (Kilhoffer) and Nicholas "Nick" Alois Adams. He passed away Thursday, June 8th, 2023 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 87 years, 7 months and 6 days.
Leo was raised on the family farm during the Depression, he was the 10th in a family of 11 children. Leo graduated from Holy Family High School in May of 1953 and married Juanita (Folks) on August 20th, 1955. They lived there for 2 years while Leo worked on the farm before moving to their current home in Elk City in 1957 where he began his career in construction. Leo later began his own cabinet business, Adams Cabinets. As time went on, the demand for Leo's expertise and Adams Cabinets continued to rise, so much so that he was joined by his son Steve Adams and supported by his two sons-in-law Joe Still and Kennie Shirey. Leo continued working for many years after his son, Steve, took over the business and enjoyed seeing his legacy continue.
Throughout his life, Leo's perspective was always "put God first in your life and everything else will work out." He was a faithful member of the Catholic Church, past member of both the Knights of Columbus and the Parish Council. He also reminded everyone the importance of family by taking yearly vacations, and placing stock in what is important in life. He set an example to enjoy life and the lessons it has to offer. Leo was a husband and father that anyone would love to have, which was expressed through his generosity of his time and talents. He always enjoyed following his children through their school activities, camping, traveling in their 5th wheel, and up until his last day planted and harvested his garden, not even missing a single year!
He is preceded in death by his parents, Nick & Annie Adams; son-in-law, Bret Mouse; an infant brother, Nicholas Eugene Adams; 7 brothers, Paul, Maurice, Albert, William, Mike, Raymond, and Clarence; 2 sisters, Marie, and Rita.
Leo is survived by his wife, Juanita, of the home; 4 children, Steve Adams and wife, Vicky, Debbie Still and husband, Joe, Cathy Shirey and husband, Kennie, all of Elk City, OK, and Dianna Mouse of Norman, OK; 7 grandchildren, Jason Falkner and wife, Lisa, Jenesa Vaughan and husband, Mark, Melissa Wray and husband, Brandon, Chandra Klein and husband, Bryant, Crystal Oakes and husband, Steven, Faith Mouse and husband, Steven Crowley, and Drake Mouse and wife, Allie; 10 great grandchildren, Brook, Brock, Ella, Ryann, Maddie, Camden, Heidi, Vale, Porter, and Grayson; 1 sister, Teresa Word, Elk City, OK; 2 sister-in-laws Betty Adams, Stanton, OR and LaVeta Neefe, Vancouver, WA and a host of other relatives and friends.
