Obituary

Ellen LaWanda Leino was born September 13th, 1928 in Hackberry, Oklahoma to Mary Esther (Harveson) and Clarence Lanning. She passed away Friday, July 7th, 2023 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 94 years, 9 months and 24 days.

LaWanda grew up in Vinson, Oklahoma where she attended school graduating in 1946. Shortly after graduation she was married to Billy Davidson on June 1st, 1946 in Mangum, Oklahoma. After their marriage they made their home in Granite, Vinson, Oklahoma and Vernon, Texas. There was a portion of time that they spent in California. Together they moved to various places following Billy's profession in the jewelry industry. It wasn't until the family moved back to Elk City in 1962 that LaWanda began her career in nursing where she found employment in many hospitals, doctor's offices and nursing homes around Western Oklahoma. She became an LPN and raised her two sons who loved to ride bulls in the rodeo. As a mother, she either had her hands over her face or she went behind the bleachers as they competed. LaWanda was later married to Bruce Leino in September of 1995 in Wellington, Texas. Together they made their home in Dibble, Oklahoma and later to Hobart, Oklahoma where loved to travel to Branson, Missouri and found their way to the coast a few times. When she wasn't caring for her family or in the nursing profession she could often be seen reading her Bible, attending church, or out in her garden tending her flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Billy Davidson and Bruce Leino; 4 sisters, Lovena "Sis", Pansy, Betty, and Imogene; and 1 brother, Lawrence.

LaWanda is survived by her 2 sons, Gene Davidson and wife, Amy, Elk City, OK, and Jerry Davidson and wife, Gwen, Hobart, OK; 3 grandchildren, Will Gene Davidson, Elk City, OK, Amanda Montgomery and husband, Wayne, Hobart, OK, and Sam Davidson and wife, Kristi, Hobart, OK; 7 great grandchildren, Esperanza Haddock and husband, Ross, Sean Montgomery, Wayne "Dub" Montgomery, Christian Davidson, Sawyer Davidson, Madilynn Davidson, and Brooke Davidson; 1 great great granddaughter, Radley Haddock and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Elk City Nursing Home and Comforting Hands Hospice for the care given to LaWanda.
