Obituary

LaVoise Jean Monday was born July 7th, 1942 in Granite, Oklahoma to Helen Louise (Byram) and Thomas Eugene Monday. She passed away Tuesday, January 31st, 2023 at Hobart, Oklahoma at the age of 80 years, 6 months and 24 days.

LaVoise grew up in Granite where she attended school graduating in 1960. During her time in school she was an active member of the basketball team and was known by the opposing teams as a "great shooter" and a "long shot threat". Shortly after graduation she joined her family at the Hunn Tire Shop and continued operating the tire shop for over 50 years. After her retirement she remained active, and keeping with her love of traveling, she found employment with People's Funeral Home and Whinery Funeral Service transporting and driving countless miles usually in record time. Her love of traveling began earlier in life where she would plan long trips with her family seeing all 50 states except Alaska. LaVoise also served on the Hobart City Council for many years. In what little spare time she had, she enjoyed water skiing, dancing, and watching her favorite sport teams in football, basket, and even golf.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Godparents, Millard and Nora Belle Hunn; son, Kenneth Monday; Godbrother, Jake Hunn.

LaVoise is survived by her 3 grandchildren, Ashley Dean and husband, Nick, Hobart, OK, Amanda Jones and husband, Scott, Hobart, OK, and Zak Monday, Hobart, Oklahoma; 5 great grandchildren, JJ Ellis, Trinity Dean, Shaidyn Dean, Tinley Dean, and Tigg Jones; sister, Barbara Pedersen and husband, David; Godsister, L'Nora Barger and husband, Lanny and many other nieces, nephew, other relatives, and friends that she loved dearly.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 3rd, 2023 at the Territory Cowboy Church from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Funeral services will held Saturday, February 4th, 2023 at Territory Cowboy Church at 10:30 AM officiated by Shane Funkhouser. Burial will be held at Granite Cemetery under the direction of Chris Whinery and the staff of Affordable Cremation Service-West. Condolences can be made online at www.classicfunerals.com
