Larry Ledon Skelton was born August 3rd, 1936 in Healdton, Oklahoma to Florence Nina (Bowman) and John Dee "Cotton" Skelton. He passed away at his home in Elk City, Oklahoma on Sunday, March 10th, 2024 at the age of 87 years, 7 months and 7 days.
Larry grew up in the Healdton, Oklahoma area where he attended school at Dundee High School graduating in 1953. After graduation, Larry held various jobs before beginning his career in the oil and natural gas industry. Being self-employed, he worked with several different companies as a consultant until the end of his career where he was with St. Mary's. It was during his time in the industry he met and was married to Betty Skelton on July 7th, 1978. They made their home in Elk City until they moved to Weatherford to be closer to family. Larry and Betty later moved to Cashion, Oklahoma before returning to Elk City In 2020 where Larry enjoyed watching CNN, watering the yard, watching CNN, yard work, watching CNN, watching the University of Oklahoma football and Oklahoma City Thunder basketball games, and watching CNN. Larry's passion was working in the oil field and spending time outside.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Earl Skelton; and grandson, Aaron Weaver.
Larry is survived by his wife, Betty, of the home: 9 children, Larry Dean Skelton and wife, Rhonda, Donnie Skelton and wife, Anita, Ladonna Skelton, Jim Skelton and wife, Jan, Stephanie Fields and husband, Jared, Thom Tuck and wife, Patricia, Jackie Miller and husband, James, Shawn Tuck and wife, Tina, and Susie McDaris; 25 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; 4 siblings, Joy Wright, Carol Moore, Joe Skelton, and Lois Skelton; and best friend, L.C. Price and wife, Anna, Elk City, OK and a host of other relatives and friends.
