Obituary

Larry O. Bostwick was born August 11th, 1936 in Chillicothe, Ohio to Ruth Irene (Clark) and Max J. Bostwick. He passed away at the Clinton, Oklahoma Veterans Center on Friday, September 23rd, 2022 at the age of 86 years, 1 month and 12 days.

Larry grew up in Chillicothe, Ohio where he attended school graduating in 1954. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he completed his basic training in New York. He later was transferred and stationed in St. Charles, Louisiana, London, England, Korea, and Clinton Air Force Base in Burns Flat, Oklahoma when he obtained his discharge. After his discharge, he found employment with the Oklahoma State Prison System and Wonder Bread where he remained for the better part of 30 years. It was during this time he met and married Velma Jean (Cox) on February 7th, 1976 at Sayre, Oklahoma. Together they made Sayre, Oklahoma their home and served on the Sayre City Council for 27 years. In any spare time he had, Larry enjoyed reading and anyone that knew him knew that Larry enjoyed food and would be amazed at the amount he could eat and remain so thin. He was also a long time member of the Sayre Church of Christ.

He is preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Ernest Lee Bostwick and Max Edward Bostwick; and one grandson, Christopher Tignor.

Larry is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jean, of the home; 1 son, Patrick Bostwick and wife, Jackie , Palmer, AK; 3 daughters, Seaska Schuman and husband, Ron, Piedmont, OK and Sherrie Gatlin and husband, Keith Benson, Canton, OK, and Sandra Bostwick, Santa Monica, CA; 3 grandchildren, Michael Robinson and wife, Lindsey, Elk City, OK, Rachael Newell and husband, Jesse, Sweetwater, OK and Kyle Gatlin and wife, Brooke, Cordell, OK; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 27th, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Sayre Church of Christ officiated by Eddie D. Beard. Burial will follow at Lone Oak Cemetery under the direction of Chris Whinery and the staff of Affordable Cremation Service-West. Condolences can be made online at www.classicfunerals.com
