Obituary

Larry Dwayne Locklin was born October 30th, 1942 in Snyder, Oklahoma to Dorothy Helen (Hash) and Eugene Edwin Locklin. He passed away at his home in Elk City, Oklahoma on Tuesday, October 8th, 2024 at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 8 days.

Larry grew up in the Snyder and Mt. Park, Oklahoma area. He moved with his family to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where he spent his high school years attending John Marshall High School graduating in 1960. In 1962, Larry enlisted in the National Guard where he was a part of the Oklahoma 45th Infantry Division. He spent 6 years in the National Guard being honorably discharged in 1968. During his time in the National Guard, Larry attended Central State College where he earned degrees in Management and Marketing and received a minor in Psychology also graduating in 1968. He entered the grocery store industry and besides a brief stint in the insurance industry, spent his working career as an owner and manager of grocery stores. He was married to Polli Karon (Ball) in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on July 5th, 1973. Together they made their home in Weatherford and Edmond, Oklahoma where they raised their family. They moved to Elk City, Oklahoma in 2009 to spend their retirement years.

After Polli passed away July 18th, 2012, Larry spent his time chasing grandchildren with their sporting activities and eventually met and later married Wilma Nichols on May 5th, 2021. They continued to make Elk City their home where Larry enjoyed reading cowboy books, gardening, walking, and continued to attend the events his grandchildren were involved in. Larry was always a supporter of his family and saw to it they had everything they needed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Dorothy Locklin; first wife, Polli Locklin; and one brother, Darrell Locklin.

Larry is survived by his wife, Wilma, of the home; 3 children, Salena Dixon and husband, Toby, Melissa Brown and husband, Pat, and Bert Locklin and wife, Kellan; 8 grandchildren, Hayley Thornton and husband, Shayne, Karsen Dixon, Holden Dixon, Payton Brown, Caylea Brown, Dylan Young, Hagen Locklin, and Fiona Locklin; 1 great grandchild, Landry Thornton; 1 brother, Gerald Locklin and wife, Linda and a host of other relatives and friends.
