Kolt Wyatt Merrick was born August 3rd, 2003 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Jennifer Nichole (McLean) and Kyle Walter Merrick. He passed away at his home near Sayre, Oklahoma on Saturday, October 11th, 2025 at the age of 22 years, 2 months and 8 days.

Kolt grew up in Sayre, Oklahoma where he attended Sayre Schools. He participated in football, baseball, power lifting, track, and yes......even basketball. Kolt holds many football and track records at Sayre High School and was always quick to point out how those records weren't possible without his teammates who he treasured his time with on and off the field and court. He graduated as part of the graduating class of 2022 and obtained a football/track scholarship at Panhandle State University. Kolt was a member of the 4X100 track relay team that set a Panhandle State school record with a time of 42.60 seconds. In 2024, Kolt returned back to Sayre where he worked for Kennemer Farms and later Damron Farms and Ranches. He had recently obtained a job offer with Great Western Wind which he was excited about. Although Kolt held various jobs, he has always been and will remain a big part of the 14 Merrick Ranch. In what little spare time Kolt had, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his horse, working cattle, and most of all spending time with his family, friends, and his dog, Elsa Mae.

He is preceded in death by his uncle, Kash Merrick; great grandparents, JD and Evelyn Green and Walter and Tien Merrick, Calvin Plummer, and Peps and Willie McLean; great uncles, Junior Plummer and Tommy Plummer, Jim Merrick; and one great aunt, Donna Moss.

Kolt is survived by his parents, Kyle and Jennifer Merrick, Sayre, OK; siblings, Josie Merrick and River Britton, Willow, OK, Jet Merrick, Sayre, OK; grandparents, Joe and Sherry Merrick, Sayre, OK and Cheryl McLean, Sayre, OK, and Jerry and Donna McLean, Yukon, OK; great grandmother, Wilna Faye Plummer, Sayre, OK; aunts and uncles, Kori Whitney and husband, Cody, Sayre, OK, Kari Payne and husband, Wade, Sayre, OK; cousins, Lila Whitney, Quaid Whitney, Lena Payne and Ian Payne and a host of other relatives and friends.
