Klora Imagene Allen was born on November 17, 1923, to John and Annie Allen and passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Bell Avenue Nursing Center, Elk City, Oklahoma. Her life story is one of perseverance, love, and hard work—a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the dedication to family.

Imagene's journey began on the family farm, where she started working at the tender age of five, herding the family's turkey flock. By the time she was a young girl, she was already managing responsibilities far beyond her years, taking care of chickens, ducks, and pumping water for the cattle before and after school. These early years laid the foundation for the strong, determined woman she would become.

Imagene's life would forever change when she met the love of her life, Fred. It was on a chance encounter while riding on the back of a cotton bale on her way to Hammon. Fred, who worked at the Herring Ranch, crossed paths with Imagene at the four-way stop just south of Herring. They were both headed to town to watch a movie, and this meeting led to a year-long courtship before they married in the Hammon Methodist Parsonage on September 7, 1940.

Together, Fred and Imagene had two sons, and Imagene's work ethic deepened. With Fred often working construction out of town, Imagene milked 12 cows twice a day while caring for their two toddlers. When her uncle went on a trip, she stepped in to milk his cows as well, learning to use automatic milkers when they were introduced, a stark contrast to the manual milking she was accustomed to.

The Walker family's life took an adventurous turn when they decided to leave Oklahoma and make the week-long journey down Route 66 to Brawley, California. Fred found work with the state of California, but the couple soon realized that life in the Golden State wasn't for them. Despite being urged to stay, they decided to return home because they wanted to raise their boys in Oklahoma. They bought 12 Hereford cows and a bull, picking up where they left off and resuming their farming life.

The Walkers later owned the Hammon Liquor Store, which they ran for several years. From 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., they worked tirelessly, and when the store closed for the day, they'd head to their car wash to clean it for the next day. At times, Imagene worked alone, managing both the store and the car wash when Fred was away. Their life wasn't without hardship—once, their liquor store was robbed, and Fred was injured while defending the business. Despite receiving knife wounds to his hand, he didn't give in to the robber.

Fred and Imagene shared a deep bond that remained unbroken through the years. As they grew older, they enjoyed traveling together, visiting every state west of the Mississippi River, as well as Old Mexico. Dancing at Durham, Herring, and Rose Hill was a favorite pastime, but above all, they cherished watching their grandchildren play sports. They rarely missed a game, showing up for every moment of their grandkids' lives.

Imagene was crowned Hammon Pioneer Days Pioneer Queen for the 2025 Pioneer Days in Hammon.  She was the only centenarian to hold this honor.

Imagene is survived by her sons; Jack Walker and his wife Shirley, Kenneth Walker and his wife Paulette, all of Hammon; grandchildren; David Walker and wife Gay, Terry Walker, Bryan Walker and wife Lynne, Steven Walker and wife Yancy, Justin Walker and wife Makala all of Hammon, OK, Kevin Walker and wife Dana of Perryton, TX, Jackie Myers and husband Clay of Felt, OK, 13 great-grandchildren, 8 step great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren with one on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred Walker and one grandson Kenneth Walker Jr.
