Kit Monroe (nee Katelynn Clark), 28, of Elk City, OK, passed away on September 16, 2023, in Oklahoma City, OK. Kit, who preferred to be referred to as Kit Loomis, was a talented individual known for their lush hair, always in some hue of green, their raspy songbird voice, and their ability to make anyone laugh with their sharp wit and sense of humor and their love of scary movies (favorite being the Halloween series). They were born on March 12, 1995, in Elk City, OK.

To say Kit was talented would be an understatement. There just wasn't much creatively that Kit couldn't do. They were a singer, baker, painter, poet, writer, artist, and gamer. Kit was also known for teaching others every craft. Their son, Oliver Clark, and each of their nieces and nephews held a unique bond with Kit through one of these talents they shared. Kit's chocolate chip banana bread, cinnamon rolls and chocolate cake were legendary, and their impact on those around them will be felt forever through all that they loved.

Kit was bold in their pro LGBTQ+ stance and in support of equality for the LGBTQ+ community, as well as for the differently abled, people of color, and women. They used their own voice when others wouldn't be heard, always ready to "rise up" for others. Kit was empathetic, kind, generous, courageous, and creative beyond words. They loved creatures big and small, music, sunflowers, astrology, strawberries, mushrooms, cats, and collecting teacups.

Kit is survived by their husband Mark Clark, beloved son, Oliver Clark, aged 6, and their parents, Sybil and Doug Langley. They are also survived by their siblings, Amanda Volner, Sarah Rogers and husband, Michael; 1 brother, Stuart Monroe, and stepsister, Carissa Keller and husband, Kyle. Additionally, Kit is survived by their nieces, Harper Volner, Leighton Volner, and Luna Keller, as well as nephews Alexander Caudillo, Nikolai Battles, Evan Keller along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.  Kit was preceded in death by their grandmother, Doris Cossey, uncle Mark Volner, cousin Jessica Yort and great aunt Marie Bautista.

Kit attended Canute High School where they were vice president of their class both Jr. & Sr. year and were on the cheer squad from eighth grade to senior year; and cheer captain senior year. Kit also played softball for Canute as catcher from eighth grade through their senior year. They participated in Cameron's Camp of Champs in support of disabled children three years in a row. Later, Kit pursued higher education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in pursuit of being a special education teacher.

In Kit's final act of "rising up", they were an organ donor and on September 20th saved the lives of five people with their liver, kidneys, and pancreas.

The family would like to thank one of Kit's close friends for their unwavering support. They were always there in Kit's times of need to comfort them during hard times or in times of pain. Always helping Kit to feel better and to see the funnier side of things. Mary Jane you were always by Kit's side, and they valued you very much. Thank you!

Kit Monroe will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing them. Their impact on the world and their unwavering support for others will always be remembered.

Kit had a genetic connective tissue condition known as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, and there is a need for more research and awareness around this condition.
