Delores Kay Blakemore was born March 7th, 1940 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Shirley Yvonne (Keas) and Charles Penn Blackmore. She passed away in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Monday, July 14th, 2025 at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 7 days.
Delores, known by most as "Kay", grew up in Canute, Oklahoma where she attended school graduating in 1958. Shortly after graduation, she was married to the love of her life, Joseph Lewis "J.L." Blakemore in Elk City, Oklahoma on September 7th, 1958. Together they made their home north of Canute on the family farm where they began their family. In 1962, they moved to Oklahoma City were J.L. found employment with the Air National Guard at Will Rogers Field while Kay's first job was for National Car Rental at the airport. She was later employed at Western Heights School District in 1972. While Kay was in education they resided in Mustang and Yukon area even after her retirement in 1997. Kay and J.L. were active members of the Knob Hill and Chisholm Heights Baptist Church congregations. Kay taught the young ladies Bible Class for a period of time and sponsored youth activities such as Falls Creek, and float trips. She spent her retirement years traveling, sewing, baking, and cooking, but her favorite past time was spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, J.L.; and one grandson, Brett Blakemore.
Kay is survived by her 2 children, Robert Blakemore and wife, Shelly, Reeds Spring, MO and Lori Downey and husband, Jeff, Yukon, OK; 3 grandchildren, Michael Blakemore and wife, Julia, White Bluff, TN, Jonathan Downey, Yukon, OK, and Emily Downey, Yukon, OK; sister, Marian Twyman, Cordell, OK; brother, Charles Edward Blackmore and wife, Val, Benton, AR and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
