In Loving Memory Of Keith Karsen Davis April 2, 1959 – July 28, 2022 Keith Karsen Davis was born on April 2, 1959 in Wellington, Texas to Kenneth A. and Mae Beth Davis. He was surrounded by his loving family at his home in Elk City, Oklahoma when he walked peacefully into his heavenly home on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at the age of 63 years, 3 months and 26 days. Karsen graduated from Cyril High School in 1977. He was active in sports and it was during this season of his life, he developed a passion for all things outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Following graduation from high school, Karsen enrolled in college at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, where he studied Forestry and Wildlife Management. Karsen spent one summer working for the US Forestry Service. He was stationed at Camp David during President Carter's administration. Karsen's daughter, Kendi Kayle was born on March 20, 1988. He married the love of his life, Judith Algrim in Wheeler, Texas on September 27, 1991. Together, they cherished over 30 years of marriage. Karsen joined his parents and his brother in the family business in Elk City, Oklahoma in 1981. He was an active member of Elk City Kiwanis Club. He was a past president of Elk City Chamber of Commerce and a past City Parks Commissioner. Karsen was diagnosed with cancer in late 2019. His initial prognosis offered him approximately 14 months of survival. Karsen was a fighter and battled the "alien" attack in his body bravely and faithfully for 35 months. Karsen's love for the outdoors led him to become involved with the City of Elk City in revitalizing Elk Lake. Karsen worked tirelessly in the mid-1980's erecting many of the amenities that are present at the facility today. He was instrumental in the development of the Amphitheater, where numerous outdoor concerts were held following its opening. Karsen worked with representatives of the Oklahoma Fisheries Department and the City of Elk City to construct two hatchery ponds on the south side of Elk Lake. He spearheaded raising and releasing thousands of fish in the local recreational area. A special time in the final months of Karsen's life was experienced when City Manager Tom Ivester invited Karsen to assist in reopening the Hatchery Ponds. He was the catalyst for the formation of the Roger Mills Prescribed Burn Association, where he wrote prescribed burn plans and implemented prescribed burns all over southwestern Oklahoma. He served on the Oklahoma Prescribed Burn Association and was crucial in the establishment of multiple Prescribed Burn Associations across Oklahoma. Karsen was an active member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ of Elk City. He served terms as a deacon, an elder and chairman of the board of directors. He served multiple years as the property chairman and was the driving force behind multiple renovation programs for the church property. Karsen's love for his church and his church family will be felt for years to come. Kids of all ages walk through the FountKids Wing "forest" each and every Sunday. The whimsical "forest" was Karsen's brainchild. He designed and installed much of the graphics, depicting the beauty of God's creation still present there today. Karsen loved to fish and hunt and took multiple trips across the nation to fish pristine waters in Colorado, California, Pennsylvania, and other states. He traveled to Peru, Argentina and Brazil fishing, hunting and sightseeing. Karsen also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, horseback riding in the mountains of Colorado, cooking and watching NFL football. He is preceded in death by his parents. Cherishing his memory are his wife, Judith of the home; his daughter: Kendi Kayle McDonald and her husband, Vance of Elk City, Oklahoma; his brother, Kevin Davis of Elk City; three grandchildren: Coman Kayle McDonald, Ken Marie Ann McDonald and Karse Allen McDonald, all of Elk City; the mother of his daughter, Sheila Harness; one bonus daughter, Toni Charlson and one bonus grandson, Dalen Kelly; multiple nieces and nephews and a host of inner circle friends, including David Parks, David Nees, Scott Coulter, Tom Suter, Arkansas Tom, Dennis Keyes, Randy Malson and Ramiro Contreras. Special heartfelt thanks to Michelle, Dee, Kendra, Larry, Levi, Chantel, Jessica, Lindy, Emma and the entire staff at Traditions Hospice. A Celebration of Karsen's Life will be held Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at First Christian Church, 1500 N. Randall, Elk City, Oklahoma, officiated by Pastor James Dean. The Celebration is under the direction of Chris Whinery and the staff of Affordable Cremation-West.
