Karl Melvin Lovelace was the 3rd child of Clarence J. & Ruby (Boal) Lovelace. He was born September 6, 1935, along with a twin brother, Keith Elvin at Spring Creek, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Karl had an older sister, Twila Lee, and later two younger sisters, Sondra Ann and Darla Jean.

Karl started to school at Spring Creek and went there through 5th grade. The family lived on the John C. Boal place directly across the road from the school. The last 2 or 3 years the family moved to Aunti's old house (where Tony Page currently lives). All 12 students walked to school. Mrs. Clara Taylor, Eura Walters and Miss Wilma Allen (Elvin's sister) were some of the teachers from 6th - 12th grade at Hammon School.

After graduation in 1954, Karl helped his father on the farm and in the fall, enrolled at Panhandle State College working at the college's dairy farm. After his short stay at college, Karl went to work for Bill Sharp, building steel barns throughout Kansas, Illinois, Iowa and Missouri. He then went to San Antonio, Texas where he managed a service station from 1957 through 1958.

in 1958, Uncle Sam caught up with Karl and he was drafted into the United States Army. His basic training was a Ft. Carson, Colorado Springs, CO before being sent to Ft. Sam Houston where he was assigned to the Medics. Karl received his training as an Operating Room Technician and upon completion of his specialized training, he was sent to Ft. Dix, New Jersey where he was deployed overseas to the 46th Surgical Field Hospital in Landstul, Germany. Karl was discharged in May of 1960 only to be recalled in May of 1961 and was sent to Ft. Jackson, SC before being discharged for the final time in May of 1962.

In June 1962, Karl was married June Clem and they made their home near Hammon. He helped his father farm and leased land from Mrs. Price to start his lifelong career in farming. Karl and June had three children, Arlan Lane, Laquita Dawn and Brita Lynn (who lived only 2 hours and is buried at Red Hill Cemetery) they were born at Elk City Hospitals while living on Harold Irwin's place near hammon.

The family moved to Dill City in 1971, where June taught school for 2 years. In 1973-1996 the family lived in Elk City, where they raised their children while Karl continued to farm at Hammon. In 1996, Karl and June moved back to the farm at Hammon and in 2001 built a house on the farm and continued to reside there while Karl continued his farming and ranching operation. In 2019, due to poor health and eye sight, Karl was forced to retire and rented the farm to his sister and brother-in-law, Darla Lovelace and James Bennett. In April of 2021, Karl purchased 280 acres from the heirs of Merton & Grace Boal to add to the Lovelace Farm.

Karl was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Brita Lynn; twin brother, Keith; sister & brother-in-law, Twila Lee & John Woodruff; and a brother-in-law, John B. Gordon.

Karl is survived by his wife, June, of the home; son, Arlan & DeLisa Lovelace, Elk City, OK; daughter, Laquita Dawn Lovelace, Weatherford, OK; granddaughter, Karlianne Hope Lovelace, Edmond, OK; sister, Sondra Gordon, Bolivar, MO; sister and brother-in-law, Darla & James Bennett, Hammon, OK.
