Karen Sue Moore was born in Pampa, Texas, on October 6, 1940, to John Pershing and Johnnie Belle Wolford, and went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 21, 2026.

Karen was a wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend to so many in her 85 years. Throughout her life, Karen lived in Texas, California, and Oklahoma, but she always considered Oklahoma home. Having lived in Elk City, Oklahoma, for many years, Karen and Paul raised their children alongside cousins and spent many weekends tending to horses, watching their boys rodeo, and watching all their children grow and flourish.

In 1987, they moved to California to start a new chapter. Karen loved sunny California, where she rededicated her life to Christ and reveled in new friendships while husband Paul was a mud engineer in the oilfield.

Karen and Paul later moved to College Station in 1994, where they put down roots for decades to come, and where Karen loved worshipping and learning more about the Lord at Cowboy Fellowship of Aggieland. Karen and Paul enjoyed living down the street from sister Camilla and brother-in-law Gene. They were a wonderful foursome, spending quality time hosting family get-togethers, playing games and cards, and never missing a chance to tell stories filled with colorful language and laughter. Karen joked that their home was a wild kingdom, literally and figuratively!

When Karen didn’t live in the same town as her children, she relished in hours on the phone with daughter Darcy and was always happy to visit with Rodney as well as hear about the adventures of her seven grandchildren. Her final years were spent in Yukon, Oklahoma, with her sister Camilla, and granddaughter Tiffanie just down the road, who provided the most attentive, thoughtful care in Karen’s golden years. Karen was a keen observer, a reader, a philosopher, and a wonderful conversationalist. Though tiny, she was a force, and to know her was to love her.

She is preceded in death by son David Paul, husband Paul, sister and brother-in-law JoAnn and Rex Fenton, and sister and brother-in-law Camilla and Gene Burleson.

She is survived by son Rodney and wife Debbie Moore of College Station, Texas; daughter Darcy and husband Terry Kelley of Atlanta, Texas; grandchildren Christina Hunsicker of Wylie, Texas; Cody Moore of Dallas, Texas; Monique Hill of Texarkana, Arkansas; Brandon and Sarah Kelley of Atlanta, Texas; Rachel Kelley of Atlanta, Texas; Tiffanie Murray of Yukon, Oklahoma; and Dakota Moore and fiancée Hannah Buss of Duncan, Oklahoma, as well as many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews throughout Texas and Oklahoma.
