Virginia Ruth (Julia) Potter was born November 4th, 1937 in Sardis, Mississippi to Julia (Lea) and Robert Truitt. She passed away Friday, August 19th, 2022 in Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 15 days.
Julia grew up in Vicksburg, Mississippi where she attended school. After her sophomore year she moved to Oklahoma City where she attended Capital Hill High School where she graduated. After graduation she met and was married to Ruben Paul Potter, Jr. and they made their home in the Merritt community.
Julia worked at Case Power and Equipment and a few other jobs before she and Paul built Potter's Trailer Park. Being business minded she later opened JP's Video where she owned and operated both the Trailer Park and Video store for the better part of 20 years. Julia's greatest joy was found in her children and grandchildren. She could be found at every event they were in, rarely missing an opportunity to see them.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; oldest son, Anthony Paul Potter; son-in-law, Arlan Wing; one grandson, Jacob Paul Wing and all of her brothers and sisters.
Julia is survived by her 4 children, Alan Potter and wife, Michelle, Merritt, OK, Adam Potter and wife, Sheri, Warrenville, IL, Tina Wing, Merritt, OK, and April Pena and husband, David, Elk City, OK; 12 grandchildren, Nancy Potter, Natasha Lavato, Pake Wing, Duke Potter, Andrew Pena, Macie Wolcott, Francis Potter, Allison Soto, Jennifer Elliott, Ryne Potter, Megan Pena, and Drake Pena; 13 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, August 25th, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Fairlawn Cemetery officiated by Jerry Bradford. Arrangements are under the direction of Chris Whinery and the staff of Affordable Cremation Service-West. Condolences can be made online at www.classicfunerals.com
