Joseph Michael Dickens, known by most as Mike, was born April 24th, 1959 in Dumas, Texas to Amelia Ann (Farris) and Wyley Harrison Dickens. He passed away at his home in Burns Flat, Oklahoma on Monday, December 23rd, 2024 at the age of 65 years, 7 months and 29 days.
Mike grew up in Leedey, Oklahoma where he attended school. He graduated from Leedey High School in 1977 and shortly thereafter joined the United States Navy. During his 4 years of services he served during peacetime aboard the USS Nimitz completing many missions including rescuing hostages from the Middle East. In the summer of 1981, Mike was honorably discharged and spent the following years traveling to Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, and Nevada before settling in Burns Flat, Oklahoma in 1998. Mike had an addictive laugh that you just couldn't help but laugh with him. He enjoyed fishing, time at the gun range, and spending time with his family and friends. Mike was always generous and kind, giving anything from a helping hand to the impromptu laugh.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents.
Mike is survived by his daughter, Tosha Parsons and husband, Josh; 5 grandchildren, Cash Villa, Courtney Parsons, Camille Parsons, Alyse Parsons, and Harper Parsons; 2 sisters, Teresa Ward and husband, Rick, Elk City, OK and Christina Schneberger and husband, Dwayne, Burns Flat, OK; 1 brother, Russell Dickens and wife, Dona, Edmond, OK and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
